Job Description
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be responsible for the overall management
of fiscal operations for the hospital. The CFO will keep staff aware of
all regulations and standards to ensure compliance with orders and directives
issued by duly constituted governmental or regulatory agencies and third-party payers.
A collaborative and communicative leader, the CFO will focus on financial
stability, ensuring adequate cash forecasting and liquidity to meet both
operating and capital expenditure needs. The CFO will educate and work
directly with department leaders on departmental budgets and will keep
the CEO and Deaconess Health System informed on all aspects of financial
operations.
Job Duties:

Develop and implement objectives, policies, and standards for the financial
department.

Manage hospital costs in a way that maximizes reimbursements.

Support the development of new service lines and programs.

Maintain and update the contractual and third-party payor models monthly.

Update and maintain comprehensive policies and procedures for the financial
department and participate in developing hospital-wide policies.

Lead daily and weekly meetings with staff to promote clear communication
and alignment.

Determine and manage the master staffing plan to meet departmental objectives.

Maintain and update job descriptions, conduct staff meetings to discuss
performance, and complete annual evaluations.

Prepare reports and maintain an effective system of financial records and
reporting.

Ensure accurate and effective performance measurements to improve productivity
and accuracy.

Facilitate and coordinate budget preparation.

Foster a positive, cooperative, and team-oriented work environment.

Serve as an active member of required committees.

Demonstrate strong computer skills, including accounting systems, database
management, and Microsoft Office proficiency.

Exhibit self-motivation and initiative.
Qualifications

B.S. in Accounting or Financial Management required; M.B.A. or CPA preferred.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hospital financial management,
preferably in an acute care setting.

Demonstrated initiative in problem-solving, critical thinking, and project
management.
