Job Description
Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful
accomplishment of their imaging needs. Performs ultrasound procedures
for the diagnosis of disease and study of the malfunction of organs. Responsible
for providing consistently high levels of customer service and continuous
quality improvement (CQI).
- Performs all aspects of patient care to optimize patient safety and radiation
protection and reduce the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Consistently informs and prepares patients and family for ultrasound examinations.
- Practices effective medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
- Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including
pediatric, geriatric and general population.
- Assesses patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate
adjustments in technique and when necessary, contacts physician for intervention.
- Selects a transducer and adjusts the equipment controls according to the
organ to be examined, the depth of field, and other specifications of test.
- Produces high-quality images of internal organs and records diagnostic
data on magnetic tape, computer disc, or PACS systems.
- Other duties, as needed.
Qualifications
- Associates of Applied Science Sonography required
- Registered with ARDMS or ARRT(s) preferred, required within 1 year of hire
- One year of ultrasound experience preferred
- General, vascular and OB experience preferred
- Current BLS certification
