Job Description

The Peer Recovery Coach’s role is to support others in recovery from a substance
use disorder. A Peer Recovery Coach has many responsibilities, such as conducting peer
meetings, developing recovery plans, and working with patient family members to help them
address substance and mental health conditions. The Peer Recovery Coach will serve as a role
model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to recovering individuals in order to help prevent relapse
and promote long-term recovery. The Peer Recovery Coach must demonstrate an ability to share
personal recovery experiences and develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships.

Shift is flexible. Candidate can work 5 days a week from 11:00am - 7:00pm or 12:00pm - 8:00pm OR 3 days a week from 8:00am - 8:00pm or 9:00am - 9:00pm.

Job Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation for county and/or statewide travel (travel is as needed to complete projects)
  • Ability to work remotely/in-office as projects require
  • Reliable access to a stable high-speed internet connection in a private setting, and a reliable personal smartphone

Qualifications

  • CAPRC I or II credential; additionally, CHW/CRS, NCPS, and/or NCPRSS credentials preferred
  • Ability to complete necessary ICAADA training or CPRC-A preferred
  • High School Diploma
  • Personal, lived experience in your own recovery from addiction, mental health illness or co-occuring substance and mental disorders.
  • One (1) Year of sobriety minimum
  • Experience providing direct peer support services required
  • Knowledge of the drug and alcohol treatment system and demonstrated commitment to the recovery community.
  • Knowledge and respect for each pathway to recovery.
  • Experience with Incarceration preferred but not required
  • Experience with implementation and sustainment of peer programming
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, local/statewide recovery communities and resources
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Ability to work in the community
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office (minimally email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), database and maintenance (preferred)
  • Ability to read and write in English (bi-lingual preferred yet not expected)
