Patient Account Representative Posted: Oct 01, 2024 Category Patient Financial Services Department PFS Schedule Full-time Shift M-F, 8-4:30 Facility Daviess Community Hospital Job Description Works within Patient Financial Services with primary focus on keying payments into Allscripts system. Responsible for billing claims, compiling itemized bills, verifying patient insurance coverage and computing patient insurance benefits to achieve maximum reimbursement. Works closely with Patient Access, HIM and Physicians' office staff. Provides financial counseling to patients and families in accordance with the facility's policies. Assists patients/families with financial arrangements including financial assistance for qualified patients from outside agencies. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities. Responsible to help in resolving denials and claim issues from all carriers, including but not limited to Medicaid, Work Comp, Commercial and Medicare for both facility and professional claims in a timely manner. Responsible for identifying and reporting payment as well as billing issues and trends, including denials to immediate management. Responsible for ensuring that timelines are being met. May be responsible for posting and delivering internal mail or working other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Manager or Director. May eventually take on other duties as needed. Qualifications HS diploma or GED with Associates or Bachelors preferred. Hospital medical billing experience required (2-5 years). Must have previous experience working with, and effectively communicating with, health insurance and have working knowledge of ICD10 and CPT/HCPC. Must have knowledge working with various third party payers including Medicare and Medicaid. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent customer and clerical experience needed. Candidate must be able to multi-task while being detail oriented and have computer skills with at least 40 wpm. Must be team oriented but able to work independently.
